Exploring Thailand Cuisine

When we mention Thailand, we immediately recognize that it is one of the world’s most renowned holiday destinations. From culture, religion, food, nature to adventure sports – Thailand promotes a unique culture.

Exploring Thai Food

Thai food plays a crucial role in the Thai way of life. In fact, it is fair to say that Thai cuisine is growing in popularity worldwide. Authentic Thai food from the streets or in fine dining restaurants will certainly not disappoint anyone. Here are the most popular Thai foods that you would not want to miss out:

Yam Talay (Thailand Spicy Seafood Salad)

This hearty dish consists mainly of meat. It is not only delicious, but is also a healthy meal option. Spicy, flavorsome and made from only the freshest squid, shrimp and fish. Yam Talay one of the classic dishes of South East Asia.

Often, Yam Talay will be eaten as a meal in its own right. Several people share a large plate full, spooning it up directly to their mouths. At other times, it will be ordered in a small portion, as a side dish, as part of a larger meal. Either way, the recipe is identical. It is both spicy and sour at the same time

Pad Phuk Tong (Stir-Fried Pumpkin)

This is one of the best vegetarian-friendly dishes in Thailand. Pad Phuk Tong is an amazing vegetarian Thai dish that consists of stir-fried pumpkin. Usually served with warm rice, Pad Phuk Tong is a flavorful and delicious dish with lovely texture.

Massaman Curry

Massaman curry is a southern Thai dish that contains coconut milk. Potatoes, peanuts (or another type of nuts such as cashews), bay leaves, fish sauce and tamarind, cardamom, cinnamon, and chili.

In fact, this dish is actually Muslim in origins but it was embraced by Thailand a very long time ago and it became a favorite dish for both the locals and the tourists.

You can serve the massaman curry with chicken and plain rice or coconut rice. The dish is very filling and satisfying and it makes a great dinner for cold autumn or winter nights.

Pad Krapow (Fried Basil)

This usually is made using minced pork or chicken (it’s also great with tofu) which is stir-fried with Thai basil and plenty of chillies. Pad krapow is definitely not a dish for picky eaters: The Thai basil has a very sharp, peppery flavour, while the chillies add a hefty dose of spice.

You can always take the heat down a notch by asking the vendor to make it “pet nit noi” (only a little spicy). The dish served with white rice and topped with an oozing running friend egg “kai dao” which blends through the rest of the dish for an unforgettable taste sensation.

Thailand Pineapple Fried Rice

Thai Fried rice is the perfect preparation for mixing flavorful and nutritious ingredients to make a quick one-pan meal. This mouth-watering meal uses Chinese soy to keep it vegan and vegetarian-friendly. The blend of the sour-sweet pineapple, cilantro, and crunchy roasted cashews on top makes it an aesthetic meal. Actually, it is a perfect balance of sweet and savory.

Furthermore, there is a nonvegetarian version of this dish too. It uses chicken or meat, seafood, fish sauce, and chicken stock.

Vega Thai Spring Rolls

The dish is usually served as an appetizer. Actually, for vegan travelers, you are not left out. However, it is advisable to never buy spring rolls without checking the label or asking the restaurant waiter a few questions. Just to be on the safe side!

Furthermore, it is possible to get gluten-free Thai Spring Rolls. The dish usually comprises cilantro, mint, basil, noodles, thinly chopped cabbage, green onions, and bean sprout. It is later topped up with lime juice and soy sauce to give it that Thai touch.

Moreover so, for a non vegetarian version of the dish, it is usually made of ground pork, matchstick cut carrots, sliced cabbage and thinly sliced onion all wrapped up.
