Bezo’s Robotic Plan

Amazon

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said he has “to do a better job for our employees”. He mentioned it in his final letter to shareholders. He wrote the letter after report of untenable conditions for Amazon workers.

Moreover, it outlines an odd strategy. Jeff Bezos introduced the idea the of robotic scheme to develop new staffing schedules using an algorithm.

Recently, reports mentioned Amazon does not care for its employees.

Jeff said “In those reports, our employees are sometimes accused of being desperate souls. And treated like robots.”

“That is not accurate.” he said.

In addition to that, Jeff Bezos mentioned the new idea would rotate employees among jobs that use different muscle-tendon groups to decrease repetitive motion and help protect employees from MSD risks.

The technology will roll out throughout 2021.

Amazon on treating its employees

Earlier this month, Amazon issued a rare public apology. Amazon lied to Rep. Mark Pocan that its workers have not ever had to pee in water bottles to meet their job demands.

A worker admitted they do not get bathroom breaks.

“You are sitting there and you have to go take a piss but you do not want to rack yp ‘time off task’, the worker said.

Amazon is currently facing a lawsuit over workers missing their lunch breaks.

However, Jeff Bezos avoided the mention of ‘peeing in bottles‘ issue in his recent letter.

Bezo’s take on the matter

Jeff Bezos indirectly responded to the controversy last month. He wrote on Amazon’s Twitter, “you do not really believe the peeing in bottle thing, do you? If that were true, nobody would work for us.” The tweet went viral.

Amazon delivery drivers said peeing in bottles is ‘inhumane’ but part of the job. Other drivers said they had to poop in bags and struggled to change menstrual pads during shifts too.
